NameSurfer 7.6.4.1

A name server is said to be authoritative for some given zone when it has a complete set of data for the zone, allowing it to answer queries about the zone on its own, without needing to consult another server.

All primary and secondary name servers are authoritative for their respective zones.

At least two of the authoritative name servers of each zone should be listed in the zone's NS records. The zone may also have additional, "unofficial" authoritative name servers that are not listed in NS records. The official, listed name servers should be the same as those listed at the delegation point in the parent domain.
