NameSurfer 7.6.4.1

When adding a new host, FusionLayer NameSurfer can search for the next available IP address automatically and put it in the IP address field as a default.

To be able to do this, FusionLayer NameSurfer needs two pieces of information: the range of IP addresses in which to search for available ones, and the addresses which are already in use.

The range of IP addresses to search in is specified for each group in the "Allocate IP addresses from range(s)" field in the group page.

To find which addresses are already in use, FusionLayer NameSurfer will examine the reverse mappings of the addresses in the group's allowed range. This means that FusionLayer NameSurfer must be configured to maintain the reverse mapping for these addresses.

If the group does not have an allocation range, or if the reverse mapping information is not available, FusionLayer NameSurfer will leave the IP address field blank and you will need to enter the address manually.
