IP addresses are stored to the A, AAAA, and A6 records in the DNS resource
record table. Of these, matching A and AAAA addresses are displayed when an
address block is
shown. A6 records are currently not shown.
If the DNS entities are excluded from the IP Address Management output in the
system configuration, the addresses are only shown in conjuction with the IPAM
host entities.
The representations of these addresses are specified in following
documents:
IPv4 address
A four-octet address, RFC 791 and RFC 769.
IPv6 address
A sixteen-octet address, RFC 2373.
A private IP address is always associated to one owner. Address is
private, if it is:
An RFC 1918 IPv4 address residing in block
10/8, 172.16/12, or 192.168/16.
An RFC 2373 site-local IPv6 address in block FEC0::/80,
or a link-local IPV6 address in block FE80::/64.
