Host entities can exist in IPAM only within address blocks. There can be only one host entity for a single IP address, unless the address is within a private IP block. If the address block containing the host is bound to a DHCP server, the host can have a DHCP host name, MAC address and additional DHCP host description added to it. A dynamic DHCP host in a bound block will show as a host entry with MAC address but no DHCP host name - it can be converted into a static DHCP host by adding the DHCP host name to the appropriate input box. If a host entry in a DHCP bound block doesn't have a DHCP host name or a MAC address, it isn't currently associated with any DHCP host entry or lease on the bound DHCP server. |
