The data contained in the IP Address Management can be imported from a formatted text file, such as the ones output by the IPAM export function. The data must have pre-defined data field names and the fields are separated by a separator character or string. You can choose either to import only IPAM information, blocks and owners or decide to import host addess data as well, if your privileges on FusionLayer NameSurfer are sufficient for importing host address records to the DNS zones the hosts are part of. The host import will only work if the zones have been p reviously created on FusionLayer NameSurfer. Also, if your privileges suffice and a suitable reverse zone exists, a reverse DNS record will be created as well.IPAM import will not create overlapping records - if the same type of a record already exists for the host in FusionLayer NameSurfer, the new record will not be added by the import function. Fields that contain formal data, for example IP addresses, must be in correct format for the import to succeed. However, whitespace is automatically removed from such data fields that have such data that cannot have whitespace entries before parsing and checking the data for correct form. |
