Ranges are parts of blocks that can not be fully accessed by a user due to a group-specific access restriction. A range doesn't exist in the IPAM database as-is, it is generated automatically based on user's rights to access certain data. As a result, ranges cannot be edited and they don't have information fields of their own - if information data is shown on a range page, it belongs to the block that the range is part of, and can't be edited. A range can be either part of an address block that can contain host entries, or it can be part of a divisible block that doesn't yet have any sub-blocks defined. If a partially accessible divisible block has defined sub-blocks, they are shown directly as-is, either as blocks or ranges depending on their individual accessibilty, and the overlying range remains invisible. Creating new host or block entities within a limited range is possible if the user has permissions to modify data within that range. |
