NameSurfer 7.6.4.1

Browsing / editing a Secure64 Caching Server

On serverlist page, the Secure64 Caching Servers have an extra command "Browse" () available.
Using the browse command, the user is shown a page with the following components :
  • Directory tree.
  • File viewer / editor.
  • Controls to add / remove files and directories from / to remote server.

Directory tree

Tree view displays the directories and files in the remote server in an easily browsable format. When first opened, the view is from the root directory for the cachednsadmin role. For each file the size in bytes and date and time of last modification is shown.
For directories, only the the modification date and time is shown. On the left side of the directory name is a small triange, which "opens" the sub-tree for the selected directory.

Viewing / Editing a file

Select a file for viewing / editing by clicking its name in the directory tree. The file will be loaded from the remote server and its contents will be displayed in the view/edit component. After the file has been opened, user can save any changes he/she has made to the file or if necessary, delete the file.
When saving or deleting a file, user will be first prompted to make sure that the function is the one intended.

NOTE: When saving the cache.conf file, NameSurfer will also use the new contents of the file to replace the current server configuration in its internal database.

Working with directories

Selecting a directory

When user either expands the sub-tree of a directory or clicks the directory name, that directory will become the current directory.
Because the root directory itself is not shown in the directory tree, the only way to select root directory as the current directory is to click on any of the files in the root directory.

Adding a directory

First select the directory you want to create new directory in and then enter the desired name for the new directory. Finish the process by clicking the as subdirectory button.
The browser will create the directory into the remote server and then refreshes the directory tree.

Creating a new file

First select the directory you want to create the new file in and the enter the desired name for the new file. Finish the process by clicking the as new file button.
The browser will create a new, empty file with the given name into the remote server and then refreshes the directory tree.

Removing a directory

PLEASE NOTE : Removing directories can easily break the functionality of your remote server.
First select the directory you want to remove and click the Remove directory button. You will be prompted for confirmal before the the directory is removed.
If you wish to, you can remove all contents of the directory at the same time by checking the checkbox next to Remove directory button.

After the directory (and possibly its contents) is removed, the directory tree will be refreshed.
