FusionLayer NameSurfer supports multiple versions of zones. DNS views define the version of the zone to be shown to a particular client (clients are secondary servers in this case). The clients are identified by their IP addresses. FusionLayer NameSurfer implements DNS views in a way different from the BIND 9 approach. With BIND, "view" is a primary concept - and all the zone versions should be defined inside views. With FusionLayer NameSurfer, the primary concept is zone, and for a zone one can define versions for different views, including the optional "default" view, which is shown to all the clients not matching any other specific version. This approach implies that without complicating BIND configuration for every single secondary DNS server, only one version of any zone can be seen and secondary servers by themselves do not implement views. Each view name is a link to the view page for that view. To add a new view, select Add view from the main menu. This brings up an empty view page to be filled in. |
