A zone transfer is the mechanism used by a
secondary name server to
fetch an up-to-date copy of its
zone data
from the primary.
A zone transfer involves transferring all the
records in the zone by means of a TCP network connection.
A secondary name server will perform a zone transfer whenever it finds
that its zone data is out of date, based on comparing the
SOA serial number of its own
zone data with that of the primary.
